Grantsville, Maryland
A restored 19th-century farmstead on the edge of the C&O Canal National Historical Park — where mountain quiet meets genuine Southern hospitality.
Our Story
Nestled along the Casselman River in western Maryland, our family-owned bed and breakfast sits on land that has welcomed travelers since the days of the canal boat era. The farmstead has been in our family for three generations, and we've preserved every weathered beam and stone wall while adding the comforts modern travelers expect.
Each morning, you'll wake to the sound of birds in the pines and a breakfast prepared from recipes passed down through our family — fresh eggs from our hens, bread baked the night before, and seasonal fruit from the valley orchards. This is not a hotel with a breakfast policy. This is a home that happens to share its table with you.

Accommodations
Every room features period furnishings, hand-picked linens, and a private bath — none of them alike.
Sunlit corner room overlooking the apple orchard. A queen bed dressed in crisp cotton, a writing desk by the window, and a clawfoot tub — the room our oldest guests favor.
Our largest room, with a king bed, exposed timber beams, and a sitting area by the stone fireplace. Ideal for couples who want space to linger over morning coffee.
A quiet room with two twin beds, cedar wood accents, and a view into the back pasture. Popular with friends traveling together or solo visitors who prefer their own space.
Our premier room, with a king bed, floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Casselman Valley, and a deep soaking tub. The room that makes people book a second stay.
Things to Do
Western Maryland is a region of rivers, rails, and ridges. We'll help you find your way through it all.
Walk or bike the towpath right from our doorstep. The canal runs for 184 miles to Washington, D.C. — but the first few miles from our door are the quietest, with no crowds and full canopy overhead.
Thirty minutes north, Deep Creek Lake offers boating, fishing, and hiking in the George Washington National Forest. In winter, Wisp Resort is a short drive for skiing and snowboarding.
A fifteen-minute drive takes you to Frostburg's Main Street — independent bookshops, a restored 1840s courthouse, and the Maryland State Music Hall, one of the state's most beautiful concert venues.
In spring, we forage morels on the property. In fall, blackberries and crabapples. Breakfast menus change with what the land provides — and we'll gladly share the trails with you.
We reserve entire-house bookings for families and small groups. Four rooms, a full kitchen, and a dining table that seats ten — the kind of place where everyone talks instead of scrolling.
In summer, the C&O Canal Commission offers paddleboat rentals just down the road. It's a gentle way to spend a few hours on the water, surrounded by old lock houses and river willows.
A Quiet Word
"The best hotel stays are the ones where you feel like a guest in someone's home — not a transaction in their system."
